Stunning Olifants River Property
With stunning views over the Olifants River, this bush property oozes character with natural building materials such as thatch, stone cladding, stone floors, Leadwood feature supports and Rhodesian Teak wood finishes. It’s elevated and overlooks a broad and rocky portion of the Olifants River, where the stream splits and turns. Depending on the water level, the river can be flowing past the house, or in the distance with the riverine trees in the background. With the elevation, there is no concern for flooding.
Arriving at the house, one can park under one of two garages. The front door opens into a large living room with a separate bar area to the right and the kitchen to the left at the back of the lounge. Large glass sliding doors open out to the view of the river. Stackable security gates on the sliding doors ensure an ideal lock up and go property, yet when at home, views can be unhindered and enjoyed with the sliding gates are open. The living room has air-conditioners and fans, as do all the bedrooms. The living room steps down into a terraced garden and has a sitting area that drops down onto the river.
The counters and cupboards in the kitchen and bar are custom built Rhodesian Teak, along with bar stools and even the staircase to the main bedroom is hand-crafted Rhodesian Teak.
Past the kitchen, at the end of the passage there is a guest toilet. Off the passage is a bedroom with en-suite bathroom with outdoor shower. The glass sliding door leads out onto a private sitting area.
Up the magnificent staircase is a spacious lounge or study room, which then leads into the main bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The main bedroom has sliding doors that open out onto a private patio. There are air-conditioners, a built-in safe and sliding security gates.
From the main house a stone walkway with Leadwood poles leads to two stone cladded cottages both with an en-suite bedroom. The walkway overlooks the pool and river. One of the cottages have a kitchenette, while the other has a bunk bed, ideal for kids and families.
The cottage rooms have stone floors, the main building is tiled, the main bedroom has wooden floors and the garage and driveway is paved. The property is well maintained.
The swimming pool is designed as a rock pool and overlooks the Olifants river and it’s situated between the house and cottages, with plants and gardens surrounding the rock pool. A tool shed is located under the main bedroom and alongside the garages.
Khaya Ngwenya is a share block and the property is 207 ha in size, with only 9 owners (shareholders) owning the property. An owner has the right to build an exclusive private home and they are all located along the Olifants river, with around 700 meters of river frontage.
Water is pumped from 2 boreholes to each of the homes. There is a borehole that feeds a drinking dam for the game and a communal swimming pool for owners without a pool.
The property has game such as Klipspringer that are often seen at the house, Impala, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, with Hippo and Crocodile on the river. From time to time, Wild Dog, Lion and Elephant walk up the river from Balule and Greater Kruger.
